Is the Isaacman Town Hall Going to Be Accessible to Everyone?
In a recent announcement aimed at NASA employees, newly appointed Administrator Jared Isaacman expressed his commitment to transparency within the agency. He stated, "I look forward to discussing this with all of you tomorrow at an agencywide town hall." This raises an important question: Will this Town Hall meeting be available for public viewing on platforms like NASA+ or NASA TV? Surprisingly, it doesn't appear on the schedule currently listed on either NASA's official live events page or the NASA+ scheduled events page.
I’ve reached out multiple times to NASA’s Public Affairs Office and have also engaged with the community on social media, seeking clarity on whether the meeting will be streamed for the general public. Unfortunately, I haven't received any responses yet.
It’s crucial to recognize that the term 'NASA family' encompasses far more than just the civil servants who have access to internal video feeds. It includes contractors, external researchers from universities, personnel traveling for work, field researchers, policymakers, and, undoubtedly, the taxpayers who fund NASA's endeavors. Each of these groups has a vested interest in the discussions that take place within the agency.
If NASA’s Public Affairs Office ultimately decides against opening this Town Hall to public access, I am more than willing to accept any audio recordings made by attendees on their phones. I can ensure that any identifying information is anonymized, should you choose to share those insights. Let’s keep the conversation going—Ad Astra, everyone!
